Tripod of Plataea

A massive monument erected to celebrate the historic defeat of the Persians in 479 B.C.  It is the first time a pan-hellenic monument was erected.  Later it was considered so significant that the broken remainder was taking by Constantine the Great to Constantinople, now Istanbul, and remains there still, in a pit in the Hippodrome.  I guess that means we will be seeing it in a few weeks time.
