We are constantly encouraged by seeing everyone else's packs that we made the right choice in going as small as possible with our travel bags for our trip. We spent a lot of time before we left thinking and selecting a 40L and 38L bag. Knowing what we know now, we probably could have squeezed into two 35L bags or even a bit smaller. We can't help but laugh when we see two gals or a couple walk by, each one with a 70L or 80L bag on their backs and another 35L bag strapped to their chests. Or the poor girl on this boat who was carrying a suitcase large enough that Jihye and I could have both fit OURSELVES inside of it. Learn to leave it at home!! We are traveling for a year and a half…I doubt the majority of these people are planning to be on the road for more than a few weeks at most.
The biggest compliment is when another traveler helps us with our bags and then looks shocked picking it up, "Man, I wish my bag was that light." Or, "How do you travel with such a small bag?"
