"Why can't Westerners sit down like this?"

Mr. Bean posed us this question while highlighting all the advantages this posture gave the North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters.  They were nearly impossible to shoot, they could conceal themselves easily, they could more easily ambush American forces.  Finely he eloquently and artfully told us that the reason the Vietnamese could squat like this, flat-heeled, was that this is the position they shit in.  Fair enough.
