Our Guesthouse Crocodiles

The Korean owner told us he has raised Dragon fish, 300 piranha, and of course a bear!  He saw the mother of the bear cub being slaughtered and bought it, raised it here at the guesthouse, and planned on keeping it until another Korean owner in Vang Vieng (who has two aggressive monkeys caged in front of his place in plain sight along the main road in town) decided he was uncomfortable with the cub and reported it.  Our guesthouse owner had to give up the bear and it now lives in a Lao zoo.  He told us whenever he visited the zoo, the bear recognized him and would come running and want to stay with him, so he can no longer visit the zoo.  Tons of photos of it are all over the place…we had known it was there and were so sad to hear the story.
