Scala Santa and Sancta Sanctorum


Story goes that Emperor Constantine's mother, Helena, brought back these 28 steps from Jerusalem.  They are the same 28 steps that Jesus Christ ascended in Pontius Pilate's house during his trial.  They are covered with wood and worshippers can go up the steps on their knees.
