Thai Military Coup and Martial Law

The first time we were in Thailand, back in January, we witnessed the 'Shutdown Bangkok, Restart Thailand' street protests and read about the violence between the pro- and anti-goverment protestors, which included shootings and even live grenades being tossed at one another.  Our second recent visit coincided with the Prime Minister being removed from office by the courts.  This third trip sees the military announcing a coup and instituting martial law.  Essentially the military is in charge of the country for the time being and there is a curfew from 10pm-5am that will begin tonight, our first and only night back.  The military has also taken over all of the television broadcasts and radio stations.  We were amazed to turn on our hotel television and find every single channel showing the symbols of the Thai military and playing national songs.
