The Pope Appears!! (just not for us)

We rushed out after Sunday Mass and looked straight up expecting Pope Francis to appear directly above us on the landing at the front of St. Peter's Basilica.  Another couple from the States were there and they were thinking the exact same thing.  This is where every new Pope appears after the enclave selects him.  We trained our cameras on the spot, the crowd roared, we looked up with anticipation…and then a local Italian gentleman taps me on the shoulder and points down around the other buildings to a spot that was completely blocked from our view.  Crap…apparently the Pope makes his weekly Sunday public appearances from the window of his private library…
