Noisy Protesters
They passed by in an overcrowded truck bed banging away noisily on whatever they could turn into a music instrument.
Our Favorite Indian Shisha Bar
We are here nearly every other night, if not more often. Incredible prices and some of the best shish we have ever smoked.
Shutdown Bangkok, Restart Thailand Protests
Basically enormous intersections, entire streets, and full neighborhoods have been taken over by protestors voicing their resistance to the current government. While the papers focus on the grenades, shootings, deaths, and other violent act…it is really much more street fair and food fest, with occasional music concert thrown in for effect than anything for those of us without any skin in the game.
Our Second Apartment in Bangkok
Extended our stay and had to move into a common Thai apartment for a few nights. Nothing we aren't used to from living in Seoul.

With Cory
Our friend and travel partner for the day, he was staying at our guesthouse and knew an impressive amount about Korea. Was great getting to know him a bit.

LIVE Scorpion!!
A local lady was walking around with three live scorpions dangling from her chest and in her pockets. Jihye, lover of all thing bug or insect-like, had to try. Everything was fine until she tapped it and it flexed its pincers.
All night long we were bombarded by vendors offering small or large scorpions to eat. The small ones were 100 Baht, the larger ones, 150 Baht. Not enough beer here for that.
Public Ferries
Many times the easiest way to get from one side of Bangkok to the other. We took one about five stops from near the Grand Palace to reach the popular tourist area of Khao San Road.
Soldiers Bussing in For Crowd Control
The entire city is affected by the massive protests, here we saw nearly a dozen busses bringing uniformed soldiers into a downtown military site.
Thai Protests in Full Swing
The entire Shutdown Bangkok, Restart Thailand protests are absolutely everywhere. Major intersections and streets shut down, highways blocked off by piles of rubber tires and guarded by protestors, and even here downtown they have surrounded certain buildings or areas and taken control of them. Despite all of that, it feels perfectly safe walking around as a tourist.
