Looks like a lovely place, and the gentleman seated next to me on the plane swore it was quite different and far better than India. He's local, so certainly biased, but he also lives and works in Afghanistan, so his opinion certainly deserves plenty of respect.
And the airport security is much more lax. We walked right through the boarding gate area and weren't sure if we were supposed to head down the ramp on our own. So we went for it and walked right up to the closed door of the airplane and back without anyone ever even noticing us.
