Jewish Youth Celebrating Shabbat

As we were making our way out of the Old City, crowds of Jews were racing past us, including a lot of younger faces running and pointing at their wristwatches and cell phones.  We followed them and discovered a huge celebration marking the beginning of the Shabbat. (Sabbath)  Everything closes down here for about a full day.  Everything.  Online newspapers don't report, public buses and trains don't run (can still catch a ride on the Arab buses) so we had to walk home, nearly every store or restaurant is closed, everything.  Wow…they even have 'Sabbath elevators' that when in 'Sabbath mode' stop automatically on every floor so that Jews don't have to press the buttons and break the Sabbath.  Amazing the devotion.
