Apparently the local tour agencies purposely overbook seats, then just cram and load passengers wherever they can. We had wisely booked the 'luxury sleeper' bus which meant they had no other option but to put us on the ride we had purchased seats for. That didn't stop the bus being over an hour late and massive confusion as we and dozens of other passengers kept trying to board other buses with little to no information posted and the 'attendants' being of little to no assistance. We wrongly tried to board two other buses during the hour we waited. At one point our bags had even been loaded onto a bus and I had to climb underneath and yank them out before it pulled out. We eventually found our bus parked around the corner and waited an hour feeding the mosquitoes until someone showed up to drive the thing.
