The enormous site was overwhelming. Carved out of the natural bedrock, it lists the over 8,000 communities (complete cities and towns) that were destroyed during the Holocaust and Nazi 'final solution'. It goes on forever and ever and it is jarring each time you remember each name doesn't represent a single person, but an entire city.
