The birth home of Vlad Tepes or Vlad the Impaler, the legendary figure that Dracula was later based on. He is pretty well renowned in these parts for beside the obvious (and tourist money) he fiercely, violently, and gruesomely resisted the advancing Ottoman forces with such sickening methods that legend has it a great Ottoman fighter once turned his army back in fear upon walking into a forest with 20,000 bodies impaled on stakes.
