We were examining the remains of St. Joseph when a gentleman walks up and politely asks where Jihye is from. He could not have been happier when she told him she was from Korea. He spent the next 15 minutes relating parts of his life story, Romania's hardships, information about the Orthodox Cathedral and religion in general, even specific insight into what a particular painting or piece meant. Gheorghe even wowed us with his knowledge of a few Korean words, his experiencing of watching several different kinds of Korean movies and dramas, and his continued professed love for all things Korea and how Romanians can learn from and look up to Korea. Jihye seemed particularly happy to hear all of this, a perfect ending to how many other Romanians had looked at her like something from another galaxy. Gheorghe was the most devout and passionate person we saw in the Orthodox Cathedral, and after farewells, he made his way around the entire Cathedral, kissing works, bowing numerous times in front of several paintings and sculptures, and even returning to us and sharing more knowledge about his faith and the church. A special spirit, and we wish the window or portal directly to the heavens does indeed exist and that it grants him all that he deserves and more. Bless you, Gheorge.
