Pawiak Prison

The prison where a large number of Jews (100,000) were kept before being sent to concentration or extermination camps.  The prison was destroyed by the Germans during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, but later partially rebuilt by the Polish out of remembrance for those who suffered unjustly here.  A single pillar with barbed wire from the entry gate remains.
