Almost as common as in parts of Romania, perhaps more so here in Bosnia and Herzegovina, are 'gypsy' children begging for money and food. This cute little one approached us for the former, but being denied that, she pointed at the pomegranate Jihye had lifted from the tree earlier in the day. We gave it to her and she just bit straight into the hard exterior, obviously never having eaten pomegranate before. We spent some time cutting it open with our apartment key and doing our best to teach her how to eat it. Based on the behavior of some, it does become hard to feel much sympathy for many...but this little girl did warm our hearts.
