Entering Aushcwitz I

I have been looking forward to this day with immense dread.  From the time we entered Estonia and the Baltic states, through northern Poland and even into Berlin, Germany and then back to Poznan, Poland everything has seemed to grow in severity and led us to this most notorious of places.  We kept happening upon momentos, memorials, and museums dedicated to the victims or the history of the Nazi occupation and terror unleashed on the victims of genocide, be they Jews, the Sinti or Roma among other 'Gypsies', homosexuals, prisoners of war, or others.  Finally being here today brings with it a heavy heart, a full mind, and emotions that rise up from I do not know where.
