Managed to book one of the last available spots online to tour up the glass dome of the Reichstag, the German parliamentary building. Free entrance and free audio guide make it more than worth the hassle of having to register in advance, either online or in person in a long line outside of the Reichstag.
I can remember watching a documentary on the building perhaps 15 years ago and thinking how fascinating it was, not just the architecture, but the concepts used in designing it. The 'open' glass dome symbolizing an open government and allowing people to walk above the parliament itself to constantly remind them that the citizenry is above the government. Fascinating to experience in person.
