A few of the remaining, non-demolished, not yet renovated buildings as they were in the aftermath of WWII. Hard to imagine not just this entire area, but the entire country, and much of Europe looked like this...or worse.
Can you imagine the amount of money that the US pumped into Europe to rebuild it? Probably wouldn't happen today since our government isn't capable of accomplishing anything meaningful.
