Our aborted hike (lasted 5 minutes until we were ASSAULTED by mosquitoes that could sting through clothes, pants, shoes, anything) did bring one interesting discovery. I kicked what I mistook to be an acorn, only to feel terrible upon discovery that the street here is lined by 1000's upon 1000's of snails. Not sure how well you can see in the photo, but we could pick any point along the side of the road and count dozens of snails within inches of each other. Never seen anything quite like it.
