As we discovered the day of our arrival here in Parnu, Estonia, we would be sharing a home with not one, but two Irish Wolfhounds. After some searching, we found that this particular breed can grow to become 60 kg. or more. Sure enough, we asked our host and she confirmed that the two dogs, a mother and son, were both Irish Wolfhounds, though mixed with several other breeds, and the larger son was indeed a full 60 kg. The mother is a slim 45 kg. The mother's name is 'Pretty' and the son is called, 'Portsman' or 'Botsman' or 'Boatsman' or 'Potsma' or 'Botsuma' or 'Possuma' or 'Bossuma' or hell...if you could understand Estonian, you ought to be here instead of us.
Anyhow, both dogs are gentle giants, after a LOT of barking and a bit of growling, mostly the mother, to greet us, the pair have become themselves and follow us around if we scratch their ears and bellies enough. The host jokingly told us before we arrived that the dogs 'think' they are much smaller, and within a day we saw them sitting on people's laps, curled up under our feet under the dinner table, trying to climb up on a VERY wobbly backyard rocking/swing chair which looked certain to collapse, and begging for food with a paw that even with no effort could knock you over.
We have fallen in love with them both and will hate to leave them.
