Bronze Horseman (Peter the Great)

One of the greatest things I have ever seen.  The sculptor spent 12 years of his life working on it without returning home once!!  The stone used as a base is the largest stone ever moved by mankind.  These kinds of details are just the beginning.  It is commonly known as the Bronze Horseman, the inspiration for one of the greatest Alexsander Pushkin poems.  The snake the horse is trampling represents traitors.  I don't want to rely on other sources, but I will make a few exceptions, including this once.  Do yourself a favor and read through the story of this sculpture, especially the stone base, 'Thunder Stone'.  You will be amazed.
