What a welcome sight St. Petersburg has been. Slipping away is the gruff, rough, and intimidating Vladivostok and Moscow...and now we find ourselves surrounded by distinct 'Europeaness'. The building are beautifully colored, finely crafted, people are smiling and displaying a long-forgotten behavior, patience!
We arrived on the overnight train at a minute after 5am at the central train station, and we must spend some time on our own this morning and then find our way to our next host, as she has a guest who will check out at 11am. So off we go, wandering the streets, ending up on Nevsky Prospekt which is St. Petersburg Main Street, and eventually in a McDonalds with Wi-fi to chat with family on FaceTime and cheat and have some egg mcmuffins and coffee.
Beautiful first impressions of the city, and as time would pass, we would fall more in love with St. Petersburg and all it has to offer.
